FEATURED GALLERY: CELEBRITIES
Celebrities and Notable People Opposed to the Death Penalty
An original art project by Scott Langley, inspired by Robert Rosenheck's "LOVE" project. This campaign is designed to develop a collection of photographs depicting outspoken celebrities and other notable people who oppose the death penalty, by tying them all together by holding the same "I Oppose the Death Penalty!" sign. Consider it a "visual petition." Musicians, actors, actresses, authors, politicians and others have a history of using their public positions to speak out on a variety of issues - including the death penalty. The following people have participated in the project thus far, with more to come. This is an ongoing project and will be developed over time.
Those pictured here include: Martin Sheen, Kurt Vonnegut, Arlo Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Elvis Costello, Danny Glover, the Indigo Girls, Steve Earle, Ani Difranco, Michael Dukakis, Phil Donahue, David Strathairn, Howard Zinn, Michael Moore, Eve Ensler, Dar Williams, Dan Berrigan, Mike Farrell, Angela Davis, Richard Shindell, Sister Helen Prejean, David Kacynski, Arun Gandhi, Ken Wiwa, Martha Hennessey, San Sheppard, Hugo Bedau, Ched Meyers, Allen Ault, Ron McAndrew and Rev. Carroll Pickett.
